Growth Fields in Focus: Innomotics Showcases Solutions for a Sustainable Industry at SPS
- Innomotics demonstrates crucial role in transition to a low-carbon industry
- Reduction of emissions while increasing efficiency and reliability through innovative electric motors and large drives
- Growth fields of turbine replacement, industrial heat pumps, carbon capture utilization and storage, and hydrogen presented through customer examples
Nuremberg, November 12, 2024 – Innomotics, a globally leading provider of electric motors and large drive systems, is showcasing its portfolio for an energy-efficient and sustainable industry of the future at this year's Smart Production Solutions “SPS” Show in Nuremberg. Simultaneously increasing profitability and sustainability is a major challenge, especially for energy-intensive industries. With its first independent appearance at SPS, Innomotics positions itself as a pioneer in providing innovative solutions to meet this challenge.
Using exhibits from the areas of low and high voltage motors as well as medium voltage converters, Innomotics demonstrates how the highest performance values can be achieved and increased, while energy consumption can be significantly reduced. Visitors can see this, especially from the exhibited low voltage motors:
• Asynchronous motors for highest demands (Innomotics SD)
• Explosion proof motors (Innomotics XP)
• Synchronous reluctance motors up to IE5
• Permanent magnet motors (Innomotics PM IE5)
• Geared motors (Innomotics SG)
With market-leading designs and structure, they significantly exceed efficiency requirements and offer substantial savings in lifecycle costs and a significantly reduced CO2 footprint due to low energy consumption. These motors are among the smallest in the industry and are up to 43 percent lighter than conventional motors.
Pioneer in Crucial Growth Areas
At its booth, Innomotics demonstrates innovative application areas where the rest of the product portfolio is used. The following forward-looking growth areas and associated customer references are presented by Innomotics:
Turbine Replacement:
By replacing gas or steam turbines with electric drive systems, emissions can be reduced, operational efficiency increased, and maintenance costs saved in many industries. For the energy company Repsol, Innomotics replaced a conventional turbine with a system consisting of the Innomotics HV HS-modyn high-speed motor and the Innomotics Perfect Harmony GH180 in Puertollano, Spain. This can save 68,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually. In total, the energy consumption of the Spanish site is reduced by 25 percent, while the reliability of the new motor is 99.9 percent.
Industrial Heat Pumps:
Industrial heat pumps are the most efficient technology for converting electricity into heat. They are used, for the sustainable provision of process heat in the paper, food, and chemical industries among other opportunities. In addition, they are increasingly used in district heating networks for large-scale heat supply in the building sector. The Dutch energy company ENECO has built the country's largest heat pump system for the municipal wastewater treatment plant in Utrecht. For this, it relies on various products from Innomotics, including several Perfect Harmony GH180 converters and HV Modular Motors. The plant supplies more than 20,000 households with sustainable energy and covers approximately 15 percent of Utrecht's total heat energy needs.
Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS) and Hydrogen Production:
Carbon Capture allows CO2 emissions from industrial processes and energy generation to be captured before they enter the atmosphere. The CO2 can either be safely stored underground or used to manufacture new products. CCUS is a rapidly developing technology for energy-intensive industries. Furthermore, the technology enables the production of blue hydrogen, among other things. The new Power Rectifier Innomotics PR150, specifically designed for hydrogen production, is presented at SPS. With an efficiency of up to 99.5 percent and thanks to its low-component design, it is virtually maintenance-free, making it ideal for the highest demands in this area.
Michael Reichle, CEO of Innomotics: \"Whether in production or in the extraction of critical resources: Our customers can significantly reduce CO2 emissions in operation with our products and services. Thanks to efficient technologies, this also applies to operating costs. This is made possible by our 150 years of experience coupled with our underlying spirit of innovation. This enables us to redefine electric drive technologies. The clear goal of our actions is sustainability, efficiency and reliability.\"
