  • Battery storage delivers fast-charging despite the low-voltage grid
  • Eight HPC charging points at Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen station
  • Implemented in cooperation with Stadtwerke Stuttgart and Vector Informatik

Nürtingen and Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen, Germany – October 13, 2025 – ADS-TEC Energy PLC (NASDAQ: ADSE), a global leader in battery-based storage and ultra-fast charging solutions, has installed an innovative fast-charging hub at the Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen train station in cooperation with municipal energy supplier Stadtwerke Stuttgart and Vector Informatik. The key innovation: thanks to ADS-TEC Energy’s integrated battery technology, high-power DC fast-charging is possible directly on the low-voltage grid - eliminating the need for a costly and complex connection to the medium-voltage grid.

The compact, battery-buffered system enables charging capacities of up to 300 kilowatts, for ultra-fast charging even in locations where grid capacity has been a barrier. The new site at Zuffenhausen station features eight high-power charging (HPC) points, operated by Stadtwerke Stuttgart using renewable electricity. It uses Vector Informatik’s intelligent energy management system to dynamically distribute power across charging sessions to optimize energy flow and efficiency.

Contributing to Urban Charging Infrastructure

“Locations like Zuffenhausen station often face challenges due to limited space and insufficient grid capacity. Our technology overcomes this issue by eliminating the need for grid expansion. The flexibility of our battery storage unit enables high charging performance while also serving as a multi-tool for the energy transition. As a company based in Baden-Württemberg, we are particularly proud to realize this regional project with local partners,” says Thomas Speidel, CEO and founder of ADS-TEC Energy.

Technology from Baden-Württemberg

This project exemplifies how the combination of energy storage and intelligent control can expand charging infrastructure in urban areas. With this technology, ultra-fast charging within minutes becomes possible in cities — not just along highways. ADS-TEC Energy’s battery-buffered solution helps prevent grid bottlenecks and drives the expansion of fast-charging infrastructure even in locations where grid upgrades were previously not feasible.
